The EconoMedica conference, organized by the Faculty of Economics and Business, the Faculty of Medicine, and the University of Zagreb, brought together experts from both medical and economic fields to share knowledge and skills with students, preparing them to understand the financial and technological foundations of effective healthcare management and innovation.

The overwhelming interest in the conference, with over 500 student registrations for just 270 seats, reflects a new generation’s awareness of the need for an integrated approach in healthcare and business.

In the panel discussion, "Innovation and Adaptation in Healthcare: Preparing for Future Change," Orešković stressed the critical need for synergy across these fields to achieve sustainable progress.

“It is impossible to separate the quality of medical care from cost, technology, and science,” he stated.

“The world’s best healthcare systems, like Denmark’s, and companies leading in tech innovation, like Google and DeepMind, demonstrate that scientific and technological advancements cannot thrive without a robust economic foundation.”

Orešković said that linking science to practical business applications creates paths for unprecedented breakthroughs.

He pointed to the model of university spin-offs, which are transforming academic knowledge into market-ready innovations and even gaining recognition on a global scale.

“Universities are founding spin-off companies, and these spin-offs are achieving top scientific honors, including Nobel Prizes,” he said.
